An Italian cuisine was being developed ever since in the past centuries. Its significance only has occurred only when common ingredients were discovered and introduced such as maize, bell peppers, tomatoes, and potatoes. The cuisine is also being noted because it is diverse, it has a different taste, and because of its popularity to other states and cities like Colorado Springs, CO that has influenced it.

Most of the Italian chefs would rather choose to rely on quality than preparation. The dishes and components will vary in different regions. Many dishes are considered popular only in a particular before but have spread and made many variations in a lot of countries. The 2 most main components of these cuisines are cheese and wine. Italian food is consist of many varieties of components that are used commonly. These varieties ranges from meats, sauces, vegetables, fruits, etc. In Northern parts of country, maize or corn, fishes like baccala or cod, sausages, potatoes, pork, rice, and different types of cheese are ingredients used in common. Other popular ingredients are risotto, stuffed pastas, and polenta. Ligurian ingredients also are very common that includes nuts, fishes, basil, seafood dishes, and olive oil.

In Central parts of country, popularly used are pecorino cheese, fish, all kinds of meat, and tomatoes. Traditionally, the Tuscany pastas will be served with a meat sauce on top. And lastly, in Southern parts, a local cuisine is composed of important components including garlic, fishes like tuna, sardines, and anchovies, sauce, olive oil, ricotta cheese, capers, peppers, oranges, tomatoes either cooked as sauce or fresh, olives, artichokes, and zucchini.

These cuisines are said to be diverse when it comes to pastas. These may include noodles that are of different widths, shapes, and lengths. Shapes include maccheroni, linguine, lasagna, penne, spaghetti, fusilli, and other varieties filled with ravioli and with tortellini. The term pasta is referred to dishes in which the primary ingredient is pasta. These are often served with a sauce.

Two classifications of pastas are the basic styles of dried and fresh. Dried pasta is not using egg as one component and this can be stored for two years for some ideal conditions. Dry pastas use the durum wheat flour or the durum wheat semolina as one ingredient. Fresh pasta can be stored inside the refrigerator for only few days. Generally, the ingredient will be cooked through boiling.

Both of the durum semolina and flour have the color of yellow tinge. Most pastas are suggested that these must be cooked right and not too soft. Also, there are particular variations which use other types of grain and methods for milling in making flours. A variety such as the pizzocheri is using the buckwheat flour. The whole wheat pastas are popular because of health benefits a person can get compared to a refined flour.

For the Italian drinks, espresso is a very common coffee type. This is made through blending some coffee beans which may be roasted darker, medium, or medium dark. The espresso, if compared to some other types, contains a lesser caffeine. Most often, this coffee is placed and is served in the demitasse cup.

Italian wines also are considered as a very popular wine. These wines usually are consumed during meals though it is so uncommon that meals are served with some alcoholic beverages. Beers are also popular but have lesser popularity than wines. Beers are served most often in pizzerias.
