French is the universal language and it helps learning a few phrases especially greeting, asking for directions or help in shopping. Fluency is not a must.

Non-smokers should be ready to puff some smoke clouds in the course of the walks. Parisian women are not so used to makeup. Thus, you will see many of them in their natural state. In order to blend in well, you might want to try this too.

Cultural differences should not be used to create stereotypes. Even when you think the practices are weird, the people can be friendly. Thus, take time to know strangers and get them talking. The city will soon grow into you and leaving will be very hard.

If you do not have a lot of money then hiring taxis is not something you want to do often times. The rates are high. However, the metro is cheap and easy to use if you take your time to familiarize yourself with the system. You can go everywhere in the town using the metro.

Many restaurants serve local cuisine. It is very sweet and you should take you time to enjoy the meal. There is no need to eat in a hurry when you are not rushing somewhere. Also, you have to ask for your check when you want to leave. Many people end up staying in the restaurants for longer than they have to just because they were waiting for the waiters to hand them the check.

Getting a guide will make the walk more interesting. You will learn a lot at the end by choosing someone who knows all about the history of Paris. The month you choose to visit Paris will influence your experiences. People who like heavy human traffic will love Paris in August. However, you should travel during the other months if you are not a fun of crowded streets and public places. You will not be disappointed for choosing to travel there since there is so much to see and learn concerning the culture.
