A History Of The Thai Cuisine Las Vegas

By Stephen Walker

Thai cuisine is such a brilliant complex meal. It has such a remarkable balance of tastes embodied in it. One gets the sour, sweet, and bitter taste all at once. The unique taste is usually as a result of a blend of many exotic ingredients that give it the spicy edge. Thai cuisine Las Vegas is also full of aromatic flavours.

Luckily the meal does not have to wait for a particular even or guests for people to enjoy it. It is good to go any day, time, anywhere. Originally due to the location of Thai; it was prepared using the sea ingredients. That encompassed the sea fish, herbs and the plants. Due to the many years that have passed some of the ingredients have been adopted such as using the beef steaks.

Originally a Buddhist meal, it is usually prepared and served in small bits. Herbs were then used to lace the meal, and the spices are added. The fundamental traditional preparation techniques used in cooking were baking and stewing. Later the practice of grilling the food was introduced. Deep frying was first done in the 17th century.

Later there were some changes in the ingredient they used in preparing the meals. The Indians who were using ghee to prepare their food started using the coconut oil. Later they went back to using the milk products but this time, butter was used which is believed to bring a more delicious taste.

The use of these harsh spices was somewhat reduced. Fresh herbs like galanga and lemon grass became the substitute. Eventually, the curry became more of a vegetable soup. That is why many people acknowledge that Thai cuisines burn briefly but intensely unlike other curries that burn for longer periods of time.

Unlike the Western ways of serving food, the Thai is usually laid on the table all at once. A complete meal usually consists of a bowl of soup, a dish of curry, an accompaniment in which the fish or vegetable is accompanied. Typically, a spiced salad is usually used as a substitute to the curry. The soup should, however, be non-spicy or have very mild spices.

The knife is never used to prepare the meal. A knife and a fork suffice. It is logical because the food is chopped into small pieces during both preparations and serving. In restaurants, the meal is usually served by an excess of one. The meals should, therefore, be communal.

An ideal meal ordered is consists of a unique blend of tastes; the sweet, sour and the bitter taste which is in harmony. A sample ca be composed of a lemon soup that has pork chops in it, a steamed dish like mussels in a curry sauce, a fried dish like the fish that has ginger layered on its surfaces and a beef sliced on layers of mixed vegetables to create a hot salad. It can then be completed by fruit salad. In general, when a person orders the Thai cuisine in Vegas, one expects tidbis, salad, dips, soups, curries, single dishes and fruit salad.
