Learning On The Ups And Downs Of Bottling And Kegging

By George Baker

All home brewers may end up meditating on the best way of packaging their beer from the process of fermentation to the point of consuming their drink. There is confusion among many, especially the new brewers since they are unable to understand the potential advantages and disadvantages that are associated with both bottling and kegging.

When we ask people which method is the best for beer storage we will end up having a debate that has no end. Each will want to justify their means of choice. Beer companies will never have a standard storage method. This can make you a person new in brewing very confused but for sure each one has its strength and weakness.

Having a good beer is the desire of every brewer. It is therefore expected that one gives themselves time to think of both these methods and come up with a personal judgment. If you are a person interested in crystal clear beer, go for kegs since they will allow all the yeast to settle. Bottle face lots of disturbances making the yeast unsettled hence the drink seem to have suspensions.

It is known that being a home brewer you will want everything to as simple as possible. This is why you should go for a bottle which requires simple and few equipment. It can be much easy if done direct from the fermenter. There is a complicated approach if you go for the cylinder since you will need extra tools like the faucets, gas cylinders, O-rings just naming a few.

Going ahead, there is the aspect of the time issue. Most people are busy and would wish to spend less time in the preparation process. Less time is taken in filling the so-called cylinders. On the other hand, one will be forced to take a lot of time before filling all the bottles and ensuring they are all well cupped.

There is the point where one to take charge of the carbon dioxide given out during the fermentation process. This will never be possible if one uses bottles. Cylinders give one a freedom of managing the amount of carbonation that takes place. There is some barrel used which have automatic systems that will take control of the carbonation.

Those who are for the use of these big cylinders will say that it is well portable. However, even a young kid will agree that it is easy to carry a bottle than carrying barrels. Aside from that, its very convenient to put your bottles in the fridge where you want your drink to get a certain convenient temperature before you take.

It is evident enough that can lead to beer wastage. You may end up overflowing your glass or forgetting to close the tap well the valves may also not be perfect. Bottles do not need filling from time to time . Your work will be picking and drinking.

All styles of storage mentioned above are applicable. It will depend on an individuals criteria of choosing which serves them best. Be assured that each will have its effect on your drink in the long run. None is better than the other.
