The seven-mile loop road is ideal for joggers, in-line skaters, and bicyclists with several rest areas scattered along the trail offering cool water to quench the thirst. The park provides guests with the equipment they need to cook out in several shelters offering tables and barbecue grills. Public restrooms are available at the entrance located adjacent to Bruce B Downs Blvd and at the Visitor Center, which also offers picnic facilities and refreshing cold beverages. The park is dog friendly and open every day.

Many other attractions near New Tampa offer family friendly fun. Lowry Park Zoo has received national recognition by many parent's magazines as the best zoo in the country for family entertainment. The property sprawls out over 60 acres and is home to more than 1,500 animal species, including koalas, orangutans, penguins, tigers, and manatees. Interactive displays offer guests the chance to feed giraffes, pet stingrays, and get up close and personal with colorful lorikeets.

Families can head to the Florida Aquarium for the opportunity to interact with denizens of the deep. One of the most popular exhibits at this attraction is the breathtaking Coral Reef Gallery. Guests walk by vast windows offering a glimpse into the world beneath the ocean's surface and they do not even have to get their feet wet. Visitors who want to get wet can participate in one of the swimming and dive experiences offered. The aquarium offers multiple shows featuring many of its inhabitants.

Tampa is also home to Bok Tower Gardens, which is registered as a National Historic Landmark. Guests can tour Pinewood Estate, considered by many to be the finest representatives of early 20th century Mediterranean architecture. Guests can walk through the gardens to visit the art deco and neo-Gothic Singing Tower carillon and enjoy daily afternoon concerts.

For fun on the water, guests can hardly do better than playing captain at Speed Boat Adventures.
