What A Church Building Committee Does To Your Community

By Beryl Dalton

Every successful venture that we have seen all started as plans. Planning is a fundamental need in organizing any kind of activity. Without it, problems and errors may happen along the way. Most of these can be addressed in advanced if a solid plan is created. This is the reason why there are individuals in charge of focusing on this matter.

Same goes for constructing a church. The structure is more than just for formality. It is symbolic and should therefore be created with the importance of its symbolism in mind. This is why church building committees exist. They are the ones who facilitate the creation of a place of worship needed for a specific community.

Individuals who comprise this group are those who have the technical skills for construction and the head pastor or minister of the church. They have specific roles to do and are proven to be efficient on that field. Specifically, here are their major roles.

Overseeing the project. The only means to evaluate whether everything is going according to planned is if somebody checks it regularly. This the main responsibility of the committee chairman. He or she heads the group and has the basic knowledge in every aspect of the venture.

Creates project design. After the planning, they will then proceed to creating a design. In here the architects and all the people involved in the manual building of the establishment will gather. Specifics such as the size of the infrastructure, the materials that will be used and the money needed for it will be discussed.

Handling of the budget. The design will reveal the necessary things to be bought. It is then the role of the finance committee to check the materials required for the construction, identify the needed expense and cross reference it to the money that they have at hand. They are the ones who inform the group if there is a need to raise more money to buy all the needed tools.

Updating the community. Also, they ensure that every member of the community is informed. The money used for the building is theirs after all. Any progress will be announced. Also, if there are events that requires the cooperation of the members to forward the project, the committee ensures that they are well relayed.

Takes charge of the fund raising. Speaking of donors, they are also responsible for fund raising. They organize activities that gather the whole community. The money that will be gathered from the activities that they have will directly go to the church and will be spent for the construction. Of course, proper liquidation will be observed.

Be of help to your community by being attentive on its current ventures. Who knows, you might have the skills that they are looking for. Ask other members and get involved. You have something to offer. Share what you have to the rest of the believers.
