Take The Hassle Out Of Your Cruise Vacation With An Orlando Airport To Port Canaveral Shuttle

By Etta Bowen

Cruise vacations are becoming increasingly popular because they're so convenient. Because a cruise package already includes your transport, accommodation, meals and entertainment, it takes away much of the hassle of planning a vacation. Moreover, cruising the Caribbean takes you to one island paradise after another, where you can enjoy Caribbean food, a variety of outdoor activities and water sports and duty-free shopping. You need to get to the cruise port on your own, though, but to add even more convenience to your vacation, make it simple from the start by taking an Orlando Airport to Port Canaveral shuttle.

Port Canaveral is the point of departure for most cruises of the Caribbean. Because the majority of cruise lines are based here, it's also where most voyages end. It's not surprising then that it's become one of the world's busiest ports for cruise liners and to top it all, it's not even an hour's drive from the region's main airport in Orlando, FL.

The port is located on Cape Canaveral in Brevard County. The Cape is of course most famous for the Kennedy Space Center and the launching pad for space shuttles. It's a good idea to arrive a day or two before your cruise so that you can explore the Space Coast, especially if you have children. Visit the Space Center and then take a short trip to Titusville's Unites States Astronaut Hall of Fame.

The area also has many natural attractions, including several conservation areas for land-based and marine species, among them endangered manatees. Charter a boat and go fishing or use this opportunity to find your sea legs for the upcoming cruise. Nearby Cocoa Beach with its soft white sand is just the place to get into the mood for your cruise and to try some surfing. You may even get to see sea turtles hatching.

To really enjoy the Space Coast, you need to spend at least several days here. Therefore, don't simply go straight from the airport to your cruise ship. Instead, book a few nights at one of the many accommodation options near the port.

You may also want to linger a little longer after the cruise. This time, explore the city of Orlando. There are many interesting museums and other attractions but the ones that the kids will want to see are SeaWorld, the Universal Resort and the city's most famous attraction, Walt Disney World.

Because Orlando is such a popular destination in Florida, there is no shortage of accommodation and dining options. Do some last-minute shopping in the many retail outlets and enjoy the bustling nightlife too. The city is a paradise for sporty types as well, with many facilities for enjoying a game of tennis or golf.

Driving a rental car is convenient but it can also be stressful, especially if you don't know the area. Therefore, think about opting for public transport instead. There's an extensive system of public transport throughout the area and most of the local attractions are served by bus.
