With Guns Survival Can Be Assured

By Jeff Strickland

A lot of people, when guns are mentioned, think about them in very different ways. Some of them will think about collections they have seen or know about. These will include antiques or items pulled off of the enemy while they were in one of the wars. There are others who will think about other uses such as target practice and competitions.

Some peoples minds turn to the gun control that is always being talked about. These are the ones that follow the political winds and pick up guns just before they are banned from purchase in the various states. They are also quite good at modifying the weapons they have so that the current statist attempt at controlling all owners of these Second amendment right guaranteed pieces escapes notice.

Many people consider what are the best pieces for survival should worse come to worse. They will debate about the need for multiple guns consisting of rifles, pistols and various other supplies needed to fend off marauding groups of people wanting what they have. There will be a lot of these discussions and all of them will end with an agreement that everyone has their own preferences and each bug out kit has what the owner needs in this area.

Those who are or were in the military will talk about one of their favorite subjects. That will be the M161a and the AK 47 that is a civilian model yet is the same gas operated, air cooled rifle that has the power it needs in most situations. These are easy to break down, easy to adjust and just as easy to put back together with your eyes shut.

That 45 pistol those military back ground people had on their hips will serve the purpose quite well as they will tell you. It is as easy to break down as the rifle and, with fewer parts, is easy to assemble in the dark. The stopping power it has will make it one of the best handguns to have in the home or on your person should the need be there to defend yourself.

Most people will want to have a 22 rifle on hand whether they are looking for firing practice or into survival planning. These have a large enough, economic bullet for killing small game animals and can injure if not stop all people this side of zombies. There are many different guns that will accept this round and a flexible system of protection will include several of them in the home or bunker.

A survey or poll was taken in June of 2013 and found that of all manufacturers available, five of them carried 88 percent of the vote. These were Glocks, Ruger, Springfield, the Taurus and those S and Ws. This says a lot about the popularity and the overall usability of these weapons.

There are more expensive weapons as well. Many people buy them simply because they are a significant piece of engineering and can use them for bragging rights. These will include the Mossbergs, the Barrett 50 BMG and others with all of the parts, magazines and scopes needed to fully appreciate their functionality.

There are also the weapons that simply are what they need to be. That need is to make people aware of what they could be in danger of if they are messing with the owner of a shotgun. You can make a little noise when you are ramming a round home in a 45 or when cocking the hammer of a single shot, no matter how much power either one of them has. You are making statement when you are racking a pump action shotgun. They know what that sound is and, if they are trying to do you wrong, they hate it.

Having all of those discussions about what and when and how many will help the newbie get a grip on the world of gun ownership. If they need guns simply for hitting the target or for competition or defending their home, there are a few that can be recommended. Whether they are in the process of buying the best for one particular thing or filling out some list they found, all of these discussions will be educational.

The educational for a person just starting out as a gun owner can be helped by locating a Federal Firearms Licensed dealer and talking with them. A small group of individuals will assist in cementing the many laws and regulations about this world of guns. Then a frank and open discussion with a survivalist will be needed to narrow down on the state of the political world as it pertains to weapons and their relevance in the world today.
